Conversation on Immigration

In 2012, President Obama took executive action to extend what is known as deferred action for childhood arrivals (DACA) status to young immigrants living in the United States without documentation. In late 2014, President Obama announced expansions to DACA that would impact larger numbers of youth as well as parents of children with DACA status. This expanded action is being hotly debated in Congress and will surely be a primary point of debate in the upcoming elections. Join us on March 30th to learn more about the specifics of the most recent executive action, the current status of the action and its implications for our current and future students. What does President Obama’s most recent executive action on immigration mean for Fairfield University students? What is at stake for undocumented students and their families in the current debate on immigration as well as the upcoming elections? Co-sponsored by the Center for Faith & Public Life and Office of Student Diversity Programs.
