In late 2015, Pope Francis commissioned Jesuit Refugee Service to undertake a new Global Education Initiative to ensure that refugees have access to a quality education. Education has always been at the cornerstone of JRS’ mission and plays a critical role in offering hope and building resilience in times of conflict and despair. This coming fall, JRS will mobilize students through the Mercy in Motion campaign, to support this effort and help JRS reach greater numbers of refugees and forcibly displaced people by providing them with access to quality preschool, primary, secondary and tertiary education – as well as to vocational and skills-building programs.
